Green Cambodia
This blog is created to share the Environmental problems in Cambodia with people who are interested in them. Pictures of deforestation and environmental issues will be posted on the blog. The purposes of creating this blog are to show our concerns to the government and to persuade them to save Cambodia. Deforestation is very harmful to the world. Therefore, we have to say "NO" to Deforestation.

Map Demonstrates Deforestation in Cambodia

Deforestestation is expanding rapidly in Cambodia. Animals are losing their natural habitat. Local residents cannot survive because their lands become barren. They lost their communities. After cutting down trees, the loggers supported by powerful people confiscated their lands, houses, and so on.Logging industries are producing their timber productions illegally. They are moving deep into forest to cut more trees to get much money from this production. They have become richer and richer while the local people become poorer and poorer. I think the Government should have stopped this huge logging immediately to save our country so that Cambodia can remain green for all seasons.
Due to deforestation and land grabbing, everyone becomes a song writer and singer

Deforestation and land grabbing become a big problem in Cambodia. More trees and forests have been cut for money, farming and land. Local residents are suffering from deforestation. They can not live without forest, their lives depend on forest. They have suffered a lot from natural disasters like storm, flood and drought in Cambodia. They do not have enough power to protect their land and forest. They cannot do something to oppose powerful loggers. Therefore, to please themselves, they have started writing songs which can describe their emotional feelings and then they became song writers and singers. They sing to stop deforestation and call for help. They want to convince Cambodian Government to stop illegal logging in their home land.We have to stand up together to help our forest in Cambodia. Please look at this picture and watch the video clip taken from Free Asia Radio.

Staff Retreat at Tmor Tamrout

Sister, COERR's professional consultant:COERR is very well-known for English Education in Battambang Province and it has become popular because of Sister Joseen, COERR's American Consultant. The school leaders always allow all staff to have a Staff Retreat every year. Once we have been to Tmor Tamrout. It is a very beautiful place. You can swim in the river, you can see forest and mountains, and you can do something else, too. I remember one remarkable thing Sister has done for us there: She walked around the place to collect the littering. She loves keeping Environment clean. We really admired her. She is a bit old, about 90, but she could walk and do good things to help Cambodia, especially people in Battambang province. We have today due to her accomplishments. We love and appreciate her so much.
